Eggs-plaining the terms
Pasture-raised: There is at least 108 square feet available per bird to roam, grow and live a happy life. The hens also have access to a covered barn for shelter when the weather is bad.
Free-range: Hens have access to at least 2 square feet per bird.
Cage-free: The hens are not raised in cages, but they do not have a specific required amount of outdoor space.
Caged: If your egg carton does not mention one of the above, the eggs were most likely produced in the standard barn with cages.
